The Spanish community is heading to Zaragoza!
There is something about a MoodleMoot that is almost impossible to describe to someone who has never been to one. You can talk about the sessions, the workshops, the keynotes and they are genuinely excellent. But that is not why people travel across Spain, and increasingly across Europe, to be in the room. They come because of what happens between the sessions.
The conversation over coffee with someone who has been wrestling with the same problem you have for six months and solved it last Tuesday. The developer and the educator who have never met before, sitting next to each other at lunch, realising they are building towards exactly the same thing from completely different directions. The hallway exchange that turns into a collaboration. The dinner that runs three hours longer than planned because nobody wants to stop talking.
MoodleMoots have a quality that most professional events spend enormous amounts of money trying to manufacture and almost never achieve ; genuine warmth. This is a community that actually likes each other. People who have been connecting online through forums, repositories and shared projects for years, finally in the same room, and the recognition is immediate. Usernames become faces. Online threads become real conversations. And something that started as a shared interest in an open-source platform reveals itself to be something much deeper, a shared set of values about what education should be, who it should serve, and how technology should support it rather than replace it.
The Spanish Moodle community understands this better than most. MoodleMoot Spain has built a solid reputation across the years as one of the warmest, most open, and most genuinely collaborative gatherings in the European edtech calendar. The presentations are rigorous and the technical sessions are excellent. Europeans are welcome and translations are available. But it is the spirit of the event that people carry home with them. The sense that this community is alive, growing, and doing something that matters.
Which is exactly what we felt in the University Valladolid, a heartfelt thank you University of Valladolid for being a great host and partner.
And now our community moves on, as it always does, with the same energy and the same spirit to its next home.
In April 2027, we are all going to Zaragoza.
A new city. The same community. A new University. Another year's worth of ideas that need a room to happen in. We cannot wait to see you there.

La comunidad española se dirige a Zaragoza!
Hay algo en un MoodleMoot que resulta casi imposible de describir a alguien que nunca ha asistido a uno. Puedes hablar de las sesiones, los talleres, las conferencias magistrales — y son genuinamente excelentes. Pero no es por eso por lo que la gente viaja por toda España, y cada vez más por toda Europa, para estar en la sala. Vienen por lo que ocurre entre sesiones.
La conversación tomando un café con alguien que lleva seis meses lidiando con el mismo problema que tú y lo resolvió el martes pasado. El desarrollador y el docente que nunca se han conocido, sentados uno al lado del otro en el almuerzo, descubriendo que están construyendo exactamente hacia lo mismo desde direcciones completamente distintas. El intercambio en el pasillo que se convierte en una colaboración. La cena que se alarga tres horas más de lo previsto porque nadie quiere dejar de hablar.
Los MoodleMoots tienen una cualidad que la mayoría de los eventos profesionales gastan enormes cantidades de dinero intentando fabricar y casi nunca logran: calidez genuina. Esta es una comunidad que realmente se aprecia. Personas que llevan años conectándose en línea a través de foros, repositorios y proyectos compartidos, finalmente en la misma sala, y el reconocimiento es inmediato. Los nombres de usuario se convierten en caras. Los hilos en línea se convierten en conversaciones reales. Y algo que comenzó como un interés compartido en una plataforma de código abierto se revela como algo mucho más profundo — un conjunto de valores compartidos sobre lo que debería ser la educación, a quién debería servir y cómo la tecnología debería apoyarla en lugar de reemplazarla.
La comunidad española de Moodle entiende esto mejor que la mayoría. MoodleMoot Spain ha construido una sólida reputación a lo largo de los años como uno de los encuentros más cálidos, abiertos y genuinamente colaborativos del calendario europeo de tecnología educativa. Las ponencias son rigurosas y las sesiones técnicas son excelentes. Los participantes europeos son bienvenidos y hay traducciones disponibles. Pero es el espíritu del evento lo que la gente se lleva a casa. La sensación de que esta comunidad está viva, creciendo y haciendo algo que importa.
Que es exactamente lo que sentimos en Valladolid. Gracias de corazón, Valladolid fuiste anfitrion y partner magnifico.
Y ahora nuestra comunidad sigue adelante; como siempre lo hace, con la misma energía y el mismo espíritu hacia su próximo hogar.
En abril de 2027, todos nos vamos a Zaragoza. Una nueva ciudad. La misma comunidad. Una nueva Universidad. Otro año de ideas que necesitan una sala para hacerse realidad. No podemos esperar para veros allí.
